1. Gopinath Bordoloi: He was the first Chief Minister of Assam and served from 1946 to 1950. He played a pivotal role in the integration of Assam with India and was also known as the ‘Father of Modern Assam’.
2. Bishnu Ram Medhi: He served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 1950 to 1956. He was a prominent Congress leader and worked towards the development of Assam.
3. Bimala Prasad Chaliha: He was the Chief Minister of Assam from 1959 to 1970. He played a significant role in the industrialization of the state and was also the founder of the Assam Tribune.
4. Sarat Chandra Sinha: He served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 1972 to 1978. He was a veteran Congress leader and worked towards the development of the state.
5. Golap Borbora: He was the Chief Minister of Assam from 1979 to 1980. He was a prominent leader of the Janata Party and served as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state before becoming the Chief Minister.
6. Anwara Taimur: She served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 1980 to 1981. She was the first woman Chief Minister of Assam and also the first Muslim woman to hold the post of Chief Minister in India.
7. Hiteswar Saikia: He was the Chief Minister of Assam from 1983 to 1985 and again from 1991 to 1996. He played a key role in the development of the state and was also known for his efforts towards peace and stability in the state.
8. Prafulla Kumar Mahanta: He served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 1985 to 1990 and again from 1996 to 2001. He was the founder of the Asom Gana Parishad and worked towards the protection of the rights of the indigenous people of Assam.
9. Tarun Gogoi: He was the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He played a significant role in the development of the state and was also known for his efforts towards peace and stability in the state.
10. Sarbananda Sonowal: He served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2016 to 2021. He was a prominent BJP leader and worked towards the development of the state.
11. Himanta Biswa Sarma: He is the current Chief Minister of Assam, having taken office on May 10, 2021. He was previously a prominent leader of the Congress Party and joined the BJP in 2015. He has played a key role in the development of the state and is known for his efforts towards peace and stability in the state.
